Animal-Assisted Therapy (AAT) and Animal Assisted-Activities (AAA) are recognized as adjunct therapies for people with disabilities and seniors. ANIBIC is currently training two dogs for this purpose. The animals are being professionally trained to be gentle, kind, and interactive with the consumers.
The dogs are, by nature, non- judgmental and want to please. It is amazing to watch the consumers become motivated when they see the dogs coming. They become very engaged and more involved in accomplishing their individual goals. The dogs, Storm and Amica, seem to motivate the consumers to engage in activities that they were previously reluctant to try. The pets also become a focal point for social interaction; consumers ask questions, discuss the dogs with their friends and generally engage in stimulating conversation. Our two dogs love the work and we look forward to many years of productive interaction. After all, ANIBIC is a family and Storm and Amica have become the family pets!
