The fifth Annual ANIBIC Golf outing was the most successful yet, thanks to those who participated as golfers, sponsors and volunteers.

The day was perfect. Lido Beach golf course always presents a majestic and pastoral scene. The golfers began to arrive for breakfast under the Big Top a change this year. The driving range and practice greens were filled with those eager to improve their game and a few even took some lessons from the course pro.

The course was in excellent shape. The only problem: they haven’t removed the 16th hole, a par 5 that forces a golfer to carry water two times to get to a green well protected by bunkers. This writer has been known to throw a dozen balls into the water and walk to the green to putt.

At 12:45 PM the golfers were called to their carts and given the rules of the day. Eighteen holes later after a full day of golf, food and drink on the golf course, our dauntless warriors returned to the clubhouse for cocktails and a barbecue of gigantic ribs and steaks cooked to order. The grand prize was a pair of airline tickets to anywhere JetBlue flies.

It was a fun day and the proceeds of the 2010 golf outing will help to supplement ANIBIC’s programs.
