Animal Assisted Therapy at ANIBIC
At ANIBIC we recognize the value of helping individuals in ways they want to be helped. One process we use to accomplish this is through the use of Animal Assisted Therapy (AAT) and Animal Assisted Activities (AAA). We are currently training two dogs to work with the consumers. These animals are being specially trained to be gentle, kind, and interactive with the consumers. The dogs are by nature non judgmental and live to please. It is amazing to watch how the consumers perk up when they see the dogs coming. They become very engaged and more available to accomplish their goals. The dogs seem to motivate the consumers to engage in activities that they were previously reluctant to try. The dogs also become a focal point for social interaction where the consumers ask questions about the dogs, discuss them with their friends, and generally engage in stimulating conversation. Our two dogs love the work and we look forward to many years of productive interaction. After all, ANIBIC is a family and "Storm" and "Amica" are the family pets!
